I Love Neutrals Too

I just found this photo from Country Home, May 2007 on M.A. Belle's blog. I love this room as much as she does. Above it are two neutral still life mantels from David Hicks, and above that some more examples of a neutral palette from Atlanta Bartlett.

Fab Fabrics

A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned the wonderful fabrics at No Chintz. Here are photos of Mandalay, in blue, in the bedroom of my friends, Ross and Christine. Christine is very talented and has made up the fabric into lampshades and panels, which I think show her great style and taste.

Boatshed Heaven

Finally, I have some photos of the boatshed, which is very much a work-in-progress. As soon as I can manage it, the walls will be painted white, so that they act as a background for the ever-growing colour scheme of the found objects on display.

Book Bliss

My copy of 'At Home With White' by Atlanta Bartlett has arrived and it's so beautiful I can't tear myself away from it. I know that an all-white look is rather limiting, but these photographs are so gorgeous. I wouldn't say that totally white is my exact style, but it's a good basis and then a little colour can be added. The photos above the bookcover are from Atlanta's website, Beach Studios.

After a bath in a bedroom, the second item on my wish-list would be a curtained bed. Once again, David HIcks does this look so well. It doesn't look too girly - just streamlined and elegant and simple.

This David Hicks wallpaper is exquisite. So are the fabrics pictured above them.

Mirror and mantle

Just two examples of how David Hicks' unerring sense of what is beautiful is still influencing design today. This beautiful Venetian glass mirror still looks fresh and elegant. The arrangement on the mantle in the photo above it is also timeless.

I love a bath in a bedroom

I love the idea of a bath in a bedroom. This beautiful photo of a David Hicks bedroom says it all. Or maybe it's a bathroom after all. There is a bath in a bedroom at Charleston, Vanessa Bell's home in Sussex.
