Time for a Revamp

Recently I've been looking at ways of revamping a house full of twenty-year-old furniture without a) spending a fortune and, more importantly, b) trying to recycle the old stuff so as to leave as small a footprint as possible. This process largely involved purchasing some white paint and new slipcovers. I first tackled the main bedroom which came up looking much cosier. And the white bed will provide a neutral background for any patterned bedding that I put on it in future:

The dining room dresser revamp involved installing a map of New Guinea that I found at the op shop:

In the second bedroom I replaced the chair with one I found at the op shop and recovered in black:

I also added a light shade I'd been given that came from an old pub and was still in its wrapper:

This blue sofa was a bit tired:

So I covered it with slip covers and throw from Ikea. I also remade the curtains, getting rid of all but the top 30 cm and adding adding some floral fabric and an old tablecloth:

This old blue op shop sofa was also covered by a white Ikea throw:

So for a couple of hundred dollars and a few days' work the house looks a lot fresher.

Thanks to everyone who has been putting comments on my blog, even though this is my first post for 9 months. I've been having a blogging holiday, but now I'm back with lots of projects to report on, including a house to restore. I'm looking forward to catching up with your blogs. x

Lovely to see your post Beth...the makeovers have made such a big impact in your rooms....the bed looks fantastic, as l'm lovin' the black and white print chair, but the look of the newly slipcovered sofa with your fireplace/mantle is my fave..have a wonderful rest of your weekend.
