We're in London for a week, before flying home to Australia. One of the main reasons I came to London was to visit Story, the interiors shop owned by Ann Shore. Unfortunately, this is all I'll get to see of it because it only opens on Sundays and I'll be visiting friends in Gloucestershire then:
Having suffered this crushing disappointment, I optimistically made my way to the second reason for coming to London - Emily Chalmers's store Caravan at Spitalfields Markets:
Unfortunately, these were the only tantalising glimpses I had of it:
The card on the window says it all. Closed now, and re-opening in a new location in September:
Oh well, at least I have an excuse to come back next year.

Beth, I'm so sorry you missed out on visiting your favourite stores. I would be extremely disappointed too. I think Rachel Ashwell has a Shabby Chic store in London, perhaps that could be a conciliation?
Anna :)
oh..sorry missing that store..
But what a GREAT trip trough Europe you have done..a dreamvacation..
Oh so lucky! I'd love to go to London for some shopping and then return HOME to Aussie! Hope you enjoy your trip!
You came to London just to visit two interiors stores? What about the um... great weather? Fantastic food? Inexpensive shopping? Warm, friendly people (especially bus drivers and peak hour commuters) - Actually the fact that both these shops were closed really just sums London up sometimes - give my love to Australia. If we didn't have to live here I would be hauling my old Antipodean-ass back home to Sydney pront! By the way, your boat shed looks divine! :)
oh no! so sorry you couldn't visit the stores! :-( hope you had fun anyway!! have a wonderful day!! xo Britt

i enjoy your blog, i like it!!!!
Oh how very frustrating. It seems like you have a good outlook on it though and here's hoping that next year you will get to see it all!
I have been to Caravan - it is a very cool space with a great line products. Sorry you missed some cool stops! Did you have the chance to see Few and Far? It's a real show stopper ... if not, you're right, there is always next year!
sorry to hear this... i had a similar experience.. i flew from boston to europe and had one night in vienna. i knew i could go to the flagship store of my favorite dishes i have been collecting for 15 years. after taking the train and completely exhausted, my friends and i woke late the next morning and i went straight to the store and they closed at noon saturday until monday. i pounded on the door and no one there... it was so heartbreaking! oh well, at least i got a great look thru the window!
well..that s a great excuse to come back again :)
..i understood you visited sweden as well...?
