As we travelled north to Townsville, we stopped at Bowen to cook a steak sandwich and a cup of tea for lunch:
The lovely park with a great view of the water was just a little way out of town:
Then we headed back into town where a helpful sign pointed out the locations where 'Australia' starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman was filmed last year. I haven't seen the film so didn't have a clue what to look for:
The film's Territory Hotel was apparently built from scratch for the film. It must have been dismantled later because I couldn't see any trace of the building:
