Around Languedoc

We have been exploring the local area and found we are close to the Canal du Midi. This is a little shop on the banks of the canal, complete with an oven for baking bread fresh each day:

This is the little town of Le Somail, which is our favourite. The barge on the left is a shop:

We have also visited Carcassone, the medieval walled city whose turrets were added on in the nineteenth century:

And of course we had to try the local dish, Cassoulet, which is comprised of duck, sausage and beans and is very yummy:


James has also cooked us some rabbit which was beautiful:

And I made some jam from figs in our tree to eat with cheese:

i took our 3 kiddos to stay in a tiny village- Cabrespine- just outside of Carcasonne for a month last summer- how beautiful is that part of france....that walled castle is stunning!! And the merry-go-round....
